Markus Eich joined the Centre as a Research Fellow in January 2015. Before this he was a senior researcher at the German Research Centre of Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Bremen, Germany. He received his University Diploma and his PhD from the University of Bremen in 2002 and 2013, respectively. He supervised several space robotics project projects which were dealing with the coordination of heterogeneous multi-robot teams in lunar analogue missions. Additionally, he was involved in the development of robotic systems for marine vessel inspection between 2009-2013.

Before joining academia in 2006, Markus was working in industry and was involved in the development of market ready security robots at Robowatch GmbH, Berlin, Germany. His main research interest is in semantic perception, human robot interaction and plan execution monitoring for autonomous robots. In March 2017 he left the Centre and Australia to join the Continental Automotive Group in Germany.
