Jonghyuk Kim

Jon obtained his PhD degree in Field Robotics at the University of Sydney in 2004, pioneering the area of airborne simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM). He studied mechanical engineering at KAIST, South Korea and received his BS and MS degrees in electronics/control engineering at Chungnam National University, South Korea in 199 and 1999 respectively. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Autonomous Systems (CAS) in Sydney before he joined ANU. He is the recipient of the Charles Sharpe Beecher Prize and Award from IMechE, UK, 2005 for his contributions to aerial robotics. He co-chaired ACRA (Australasian Conference in Robotics and Automation) in 2008 and served in Associate Editor roles for IEEE-IROS (2008) and IEEE ICRA (2010).  Jon has published more than 70 papers with Google citations of 1000+. His key contribution published in IEEE Transaction on Aerospace and Electronics System together with its companion conference paper has received over 300 citations showing significant impacts in aerial robotics.  (Over 1,345 citations and an h-index of 17).
