Rodrigo Santa Cruz

Rodrigo Santa Cruz joined the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision as a PhD candidate to work on semantic scene understanding, the challenging task of building machines that can interpret images and video as humans do at first glance. This is crucial for robots interact with people and their environment. Rodrigo’s research project aims to build systems that can efficiently extract semantically meaningful interpretations of the complex visual world.

Rodrigo graduated from University of Pernambuco (UPE), Brazil, with a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree in August 2014. In 2013, he received a Science Without Border Scholarship from CNPQ, Brazil to study as an exchange student in the B.Sc. Computer Science at the Australian National University (ANU), Australia. He also has experience working in IT Industry and his research interests are in Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning.
