Rafael joined the Centre as a Ph.D. candidate mid-year in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Gustavo Carneiro and co-supervision of Prof. Ian Reid at The University of Adelaide.
His research project aims to bring contributions to the fields of zero-shot learning using generative models. Rafael received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (Brazil – 2015), and B.Sc. on Information Systems, Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (Brazil – 2011).
His research interests include deep learning, zero-shot learning, open-set recognition, generative models, uncertainty, and optimization.
Keywords: Zero-Shot Learning, Deep Learning, Gaussian processes, convolutional neural networks, Uncertainty Estimation, Fooling Neural Nets.
