Qi Wu

Dr Qi Wu is a lecturer at the University of Adelaide. He joined the Centre firstly as a Research Fellow before becoming an Associate Investigator in 2018.

His research interests are mainly in computer vision and machine learning. He is currently working on the vision to language problem and is an expert in the image captioning and visual question answering (VQA).  His image captioning model produced the best result in the Microsoft COCO Image Captioning Challenges in 2015 and his VQA model is the current state-of-the-art in the area. His work has been published in prestigious conferences such as the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) and the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV).

Qi received an MSc in Global Computing and Media Technology, a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bath (United Kingdom), in 2011 and 2015.
