Carlie

Carlie is a scaled down version of a full-size autonomous car, with a range of camera sensors and on-board computer capability.  Four of these mobile robotic platforms were created, one for each Centre node, and are used for research, engagement and outreach purposes.

Such cute little platforms. I hope these keep being used within each node. A way of remembering all the good work we did together.

I agree David! I loved hearing in the recent project reviews how the other nodes are all using Carlie in their labs. Adelaide in particular is doing some pretty cool stuff with vineyard monitoring and I think is planning an off road version :).

I still remember the original that students worked on for quite a few years. This would have made their lives so much easier. Its a nice symbol of the in-house development that is possible for creating short run prototypes that embody the research that we are trying to do.
