About

Robotic Vision Australia was born out of the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision, an Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence, which brought together a critical mass of global experts in the areas of robotics, computer vision and AI. In operation from 2014–2020 the Centre’s research tackled the critical and complex challenge of applying computer vision to robotics. You can read more about the Centre’s legacy at www.roboticvision.org/legacy.

Having built incredible momentum as a research entity and developed outstanding brand recognition globally, the Centre Executive established Robotic Vision Australia to continue to advance education in the fields of robotics, computer vision and artificial intelligence through the following priority areas:

  • Developing human capital through the Robotic Vision Summer School

  • Facilitating scholarship in these fields

  • Connecting and facilitating collaboration between researchers in these fields

  • Providing a critical mass of global experts in these fields who can be called upon by government, policy makers and media for expert opinion in these technologies

  • Providing information and advocating to government, industry and the general population on the benefits and issues in these fields

Purpose

To ensure the education and advance of robotics, vision and AI technologies.
